a poem by Joshua Brown
Tell them what you think.
Not for vain reprisals
But for pure connection
In their darkness, lighten
Not with flattery confuse
But with honest import
Tell them what you think.
Not the power hungry
But the meek and kind
In their own abundance
Give to them tenfold
Not of lies but maps
Tell them what you think.
Not the tribe alone
But the childhood Sea
Where monsters dwell
And fear not rejection
For the Child will hear
Tell them what you think.
In the morn sunrise
When the tempter lurks
"Too tired and grumpy"
To be true to yourself
Censor thus your needs
Tell them what you think.
When the shadows stark
And the sweat beads fast
And you'd rather win first
But truth calls you to sever
From the fool and imp'.
Tell them what you think.
When the candles burn
And your tired eyes droop
And your broken heart sighs
"I'll tell them thus tomor'
For today is just sinful"
Tell them what you think.
For truth is not virtue
But honor them beyond
Their demonic habits
And give the gift simple
Of opportune' to repent
Tell them what you think.
And pretend not wisdom
That you posses not
For mismapping children
Is no sin but evil confusion
Upon the simple minded
Tell them what you think.
And rejoice with purity
At the demons cast out
From your own family
Not of Blood but baptism
Into honorable honesty

Thanks for reading my poem, I wrote it while waiting at the Peoria Station for the RTD A-line headed to Union Station on December 11, 2022 early morning on a Sunday. Check out my last poem: "Epigenetic Caging" which is a meditation on child abuse internal enablement. There is no "cycle" because brave people CHOOSE not to take up the unholy mantle of child abuse.
Leave a comment below what you'd like me to write more poetry about! I've been trying to write and think more virtuous and praiseful topics to write about. If you like this deep dark poetry, let me know too!
