a poem by Joshua Brown
Snow falls as I hug the feeble gently
An encouragement of bravery soft
The spent human with choice made
No eraser... I comfort in his frailty.
His demons spent and left his body
In this cold and cloudy winter soft
He knows he infected others many
But maybe his life left will blanket
The cold barren dead grassland
A ghoulish reprieve from birthing
Hurt not the stores from which
His programmed abuses added
Season of death and hunger pangs
For those who did not prepare
And did not set aside provenance
Will melt into rivers and streams
Their feeble essence a warning
To the parasites among the church
That February is coming quickly
And childlessness is a bitch harsh.

Thanks for reading this poem, I wrote it today November 17, 2022 in south Denver while I was delivering 175 turkeys from the Denver Food Bank for people's Thanksgiving dinners. "Menstrual Winter" is not my only poem! Actually, my last poem is entitled "On Jehu's Altar Bloody," which is a poem about co-dependency.
I would love to have you comment down below or on Facebook or Telegram.

About this poem:
One of my inspirations for this poem is my relationship with many of my elders inability to recognize their own failures, mistakes and evil-doings.
Frank from QuiteFrankly.tv has an interesting relationship with his family that I think is a good example of both distance (in which he maintains his own "family") and also connection, in which he approaches with an open mind and a clear conscience his own dysfunctional family to learn and grow, even from their evil.
I've thought a lot about my relationship with women over the past few years. For a short period of time, I had dabbled in pick-up artistry and though I give the women agency for their choices in our relationships, I also recognize that without the framing of religion, I really took advantage of women's vulnerability regarding their fertility window, maybe sub-consciously, but just as dangerous to their long-term relational health.
