an original poem by Joshua Brown
Do I care that much at all
About the rise of Romish fall?
Does it mean at all to me
A gilded broken family?
Why should I care without some love
About the boot or choking glove
Fuck that drivel, fuck that choice
To live unloved but with a voice
Stress that gay to some may seem
Stress that loss of progeny
Birth to the world killed by desire
Birthed to the blurred out flamy fire
Ra! Shouts the enemy
While needed men flee
Imagination flooded out
By propaganda stout
Or am I the one who lies
To rouse them who dies
At behest of foreign pow'r
Instead of living by cow'r?
Little children turned to men
By hero story chose by them
Little boys and little girls
Stirred to life by furls
Flags cast out in resonance
By soldiers just nefarious
Dramatic actors playing ghouls
To rouse the hearts of simple fools
Wake up from waking trancelike state oh men!
Wake and return to who we crafted by genetic choices made!
Behold the God who established Time!
Mystery of that Theotokos' dismembered smashed in head!

Joshua was influenced by his religious upbringing in the Independent Fundamental Baptist movement, mostly the Tennessee Temple, Jack Chick, Kent Hovind, Bob Jones Sr, Sword of the Lord, and Jack Hyles ideas and practices. But he was also touched by an intimate familiarity with war, violence and trauma lived through a member of his immediate family.
This poem is also tempted by themes of anti-divinity and empathy for men in general and specifically him who he grew up worshipping, the Lord Jesus Christ himself.
Deconstructing familial roles and the inevitable suicidal and homicidal impulses that both boys and girls will grow up to have without virtue and love being demonstrated is all a part of this rather mild poem that ends so dramatically.
