an original poem by Joshua Brown
Softer hues again parallax
Shifting between stereoscopic views
Adjusting lens to see spherical
Colors atomized in arching bow
Footed in the felt canvas of
Invasive species natured wildly
Fresh mown grass wetted by tears
Of frustrated release by embrace
And dance of invisible pressures
Wise furrowed brow beholds
Grainy edges to the peripheral
Accepted by the local ecosystem
Floating mildly with yellow stems
In outdoor pool with friends
Carbs perched accessibly for all
Shored swampland brimming lively
Borderland to human habitation
Plates aromatic dewed with juice
Puddled from sacrificed cattle
Ground to burgers, cheese wilted
Crumbs left in haste of consumption
Return to friendly consummation
In the stirred waters of relaxation
At the foot of the wetland crafted
Laughs echo against the cumulus
That flit away to westward home.

Becoming a hero is no laughing matter, but being a friend is. Thanks for reading "God and Gaiety" which was written on June 9, 2023 while on shift as a security guard at the Arapahoe Aurora Motor Vehicle in Aurora, Colorado, United States, North America.
You might be interested in checking out my last poem as well: "Internalized" which is about the women I've experienced within the greater Baptist community. It is an expression of my anger at their abuses towards children even in their "ex" Baptist personality. The Catholic and Orthodox teachings about accepting what you believed would be preferable to the transition from one form of matriarchal abuse to another via secularization of victimization, in my opinion.
