a poem by Joshua Brown
I don't like the darkness inside,
But it protects me from the darkness outside
Unknown dangers demanding my fear
Wild animals, strange figures unclear
When I was 20 I lived in a dream
Relationships shallow and power supreme
Status won the day of the dead
Girlfriend, wife and hooker head
Small town celebrity in the news
Walking fast with who I'd choose
Now I see the empty choice I made
Strong to win, easy to get laid
Years of silence come and gone
Mopping floors and mowing lawns
Lying to the face of fools
Dancing with diseased ghouls
